Having Trouble Accessing or Viewing Open CPD?
Simple steps you can try
Sometimes something won’t load or just doesn’t look right
This page covers access or display issues — for example, if you can’t reach the login page or something looks wrong after signing in.
If your password or user ID isn’t recognised, please use the “Forgot password?” link on the login screen to reset your details.
Most display or login access problems are caused by temporary browser issues. A few quick steps usually fix them.
1. Refresh the Page
If the page doesn’t load properly or seems stuck, start with a simple refresh.
On most browsers:
Windows: Press Ctrl + F5
Mac: Press Cmd + Shift + R
This forces your browser to reload the latest version of Open CPD instead of using a cached copy. It often resolves incomplete or outdated page displays.
2. Try an Incognito or Private Window
Browser extensions, cookies, or stored sessions can occasionally interfere with secure logins.
Opening Open CPD in a private window starts a clean session:
Chrome or Edge: Press Ctrl + Shift + N
Safari or Firefox: Press Cmd + Shift + N
Then visit app.opencpd.com and try signing in again.
If it works, it means your normal browser session was holding on to old data. Clearing your cache (next step) will usually fix this permanently.
3. Clear Your Browser Cache
Your browser saves website files to help pages load faster. Over time, these stored copies can become outdated and cause display or login errors.
To clear your cache:
Chrome or Edge: Go to Settings → Privacy and security → Clear browsing data
Safari: Go to Settings → Clear History and Website Data
Firefox: Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Clear Data
After clearing your cache, close the browser completely, reopen it, and log in again.
4. Check Your Internet Connection
Open CPD runs entirely in your browser, so it needs a stable connection to verify logins and load certificates.
If you’re using Wi-Fi, try moving closer to your router or switching to a wired or more stable network.
Avoid using mobile hotspots with low signal strength when issuing certificates or editing course data.
5. Still Having Trouble?
If none of the steps above resolve the problem, please get in touch with our support team.
Include a short description of what’s happening (e.g. “page doesn’t load past login screen”) and, if possible, a screenshot. This helps us identify the cause more quickly.
