When you issue a certificate through Open CPD, your learner receives two things immediately: the certificate itself and a digital badge. The following day, their achievement page goes live. This is the part of the credential that does not expire, does not get buried in an inbox, and does not require any action on your part once it is live.
What the achievement page is
The achievement page is a dedicated, publicly accessible page built specifically for the learner’s credential. It shows what they completed — the course name, the Aims, Skills, and Outcomes, the CPD hours, and the issuing provider. It includes guidance on how to share the achievement on social media.
The page is accessible to anyone the learner shares the link with. It is not indexed by search engines and does not appear in search results. It contains no personal details beyond those relating to the credential itself — nothing about the learner that they have not already chosen to share by sending the link.
Why the email and the page land at different times
The certificate email arrives the moment you issue — when the achievement is fresh and the learner is thinking about it. The achievement page goes live the following day.
This gap is deliberate. Emails get buried. A learner who receives their certificate on a Tuesday evening may not think to post about it until the weekend. The page is there when they are ready — not just in the moment of issue, but weeks or months later when a new employer asks about their background, or when they are updating their professional profile, or when a colleague asks what they have been working on.
The page stays live permanently. It does not expire when the email falls out of the inbox. It does not require the learner to save anything. The link is all they need.
What it contains
The achievement page for each learner includes:
- The course they completed
- The Aims, Skills, and Outcomes of the training
- The number of CPD hours
- The date of issue
- The issuing provider — with a link to the provider profile
- Guidance on sharing the achievement on LinkedIn and other platforms
It does not contain personal details beyond those relating to the credential. No contact information, no employment history, no data the learner did not provide in the context of their training.
How it is different from the digital badge
The digital badge — issued to the IMS Global Open Badges standard — is designed for social platforms. It embeds in a LinkedIn profile, drops into an email signature, or sits in a portfolio. It is machine-readable, carries metadata, and can be verified by anyone who clicks it.
The achievement page is different. It is designed for sharing via a link — sending to a specific person, posting as a URL on social media, or bookmarking for later reference. It presents the full context of the achievement in a readable, human-friendly format. The two complement each other rather than duplicating each other.
What you need to do as the provider
Nothing additional. When you issue the certificate, the badge and the achievement page are generated automatically. The email goes to the learner, the badge is ready to share, and the page goes live the next day. There is no separate step to set up the achievement page, no template to configure, and no content to write for each learner.
FAQ
Can learners access their achievement page without logging in?
Yes. The page is publicly accessible via a unique link — no account, no login, no registration required. The learner shares the link; the recipient clicks it and sees the achievement page directly. This includes employers, professional body administrators, colleagues, or anyone else the learner sends it to.
Is the achievement page searchable?
No. The page is not indexed by search engines and does not appear in search results. It is only accessible to people who have the link. Learners control who sees it by choosing who they share the link with.
Does the page stay live after the certificate is issued?
Yes, permanently. The achievement page does not expire. It remains accessible for as long as the provider’s account is active on the platform. Learners can bookmark it, send it, or share it at any point after it goes live — not just immediately after issue.
What if a learner loses the link?
As the issuing provider, you can resend the certificate email from your dashboard, which includes the achievement page link. The learner can also contact you directly — the link is tied to their specific certificate and does not change.
