Course aims
The session aims to demonstrate how Databricks Genie and its agent capabilities can help stakeholders move beyond traditional dashboards, investigate the “why” behind their data, automate analytical workflows and reach actionable insights faster. Attendees will also gain practical guidance and lessons learned from building and implementing Genie agents in real-world use cases.

- Translating an existing manual analytical process into a repeatable, agent-enabled workflow.
- Understanding how to design an agent-driven investigation workflow, from data or alert through to analysis and actionable output.
- Structuring business context, instructions and investigation logic to improve the quality of an agent’s responses.
- Analytical thinking: moving beyond what happened to explore why it happened and what factors are driving it.
- Stakeholder collaboration: capturing subject-matter expertise and translating it into context and investigation logic an agent can use.

Learning outcomes
Through practical examples and demos, I’ll show how these agents work, how we’ve approached giving them the right business context and investigation logic, and the lessons we’ve learned while building and implementing them. Having completed this session, you will be equipped with the skills and knowledge to identify where Genie agents can add value within your own Databricks environment, understand how to approach automated and on-demand analytical use cases, and apply practical techniques for building agents that deliver relevant and actionable insights.
