Open CPD Charter

This Charter sets out the shared principles, responsibilities, and expectations of organisations and individuals who hold Open CPD Membership.

Open CPD supports the recognition of learning, skills, and professional development through an open, transparent framework. This Charter is principles-led and does not function as a regulatory or accrediting instrument.

Recognition is a core part of learning. Learning has limited value if it cannot be articulated, evidenced, or shared.

Open CPD members recognise that acknowledging participation, progress, and achievement supports lifelong learning.

Open CPD provides tools to issue certificates and digital credentials. Responsibility for learning content and delivery remains with the member organisation.

Members commit to recognising learning that is genuine, intentional, and delivered as described.

Members commit to being clear about what the learning activity involved, the nature of participation or assessment, and the context in which learning took place.

Recognition should not misrepresent outcomes, professional status, or regulatory standing.

Recognition carries ethical responsibility. Members commit to avoiding misleading claims or inflated outcomes.

Recognition practices should be fair, inclusive, and accessible.

Trust is created through consistency, transparency, and accountability.

Members commit to using Open CPD verification tools responsibly and maintaining accurate records.

Open CPD Membership signals participation in an open recognition framework. It does not represent formal accreditation or regulatory endorsement.

Members must not imply approval, licensing, or qualification status where none exists.

Open CPD operates as a network of independent providers connected by shared principles.

Members acknowledge that their actions contribute to the credibility of open recognition for all.
