The short answer
CPD Accreditation Costs £50 One-Off or £45 a Month
With Open CPD, accrediting your own training costs £50 as a one-off for 25 credits, or £45 a month for 30 certificates a month on the Business plan. There is no fee to get a course approved, no per-course charge and no minimum term. You pay for the certificates you issue and nothing else, so the cost of accreditation is the cost of a certificate. Figures below are in pounds sterling and include VAT; the pricing page shows the same plans in US dollars, euros and rand.
| Plan | Price | Certificates included | Cost per certificate | Suits |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pay as you go | £50 one-off | 25 credits | £2.00 | Occasional providers issuing a handful of certificates a year. |
| Business | £45 a month | 30 per month | £1.50 | Providers running training regularly and wanting a predictable allowance. |
| Professional | £90 a month | 120 per month | £0.75 | Established providers issuing at volume, where cost per certificate matters most. |
| Enterprise | Quoted | Volume-based allowance | Quoted | Larger networks, multi-site organisations and LMS integrations. Talk to us. |
Annual billing is ten months for twelve on both subscriptions, which brings Business to £450 a year and Professional to £900 a year. Every plan includes unlimited courses and events, digital badges, certificate verification and the built-in certificate designs at no extra cost. If you are still working out how many CPD hours your course carries, the guide to CPD hours and points covers that first.
Why we can answer this instantly
The Price Is the Price
A real price, not an indication
Most CPD bodies will not publish what they charge, and the ones that do give a range. What you see here is the price you pay.
Nothing to fill in first
You get the answer on screen straight away. We ask for your email afterwards only if you want the quote in writing.
No charge to approve a course
There is no submission fee and no per-course cost. You pay when you issue a certificate, and your courses are unlimited.
Open CPD is a self-accreditation platform, so your course is accredited through your own organisation rather than submitted to a third party for approval. How it works sets out the process end to end, and the CPD Membership Charter sets out what a certificate issued this way does and does not claim.
How the recommendation works
Two Questions, One Package
The calculator asks what you have issued in the last three months and what you expect to issue in the next three. Between them those two answers place you on one of four packages:
- Pay as you go, if you have issued little or nothing so far and expect the same for now.
- Business, if you are issuing steadily in small numbers, or are about to start doing so.
- Professional, if either figure is above fifty certificates in a three-month period.
- An Enterprise conversation, if you are well beyond fifty and a standard allowance stops being the right shape.
The optional questions about country, sector, stage and current provider do not change the outcome. Neither does the number of courses you run, because courses are unlimited on every plan. They are there so we understand who we are quoting, and so the quote we email you reads like it was written for you.
Questions people ask first
CPD Accreditation Cost: Common Questions
How much does CPD accreditation cost with Open CPD?
CPD accreditation with Open CPD starts at £50 as a one-off for 25 credits, or £45 a month for 30 certificates a month. The Professional plan is £90 a month for 120 certificates a month. There is no course approval fee, no per-course charge and no minimum term, so the only cost is the certificates you issue. Prices include VAT and are shown here in pounds sterling.
What does one CPD certificate cost?
One CPD certificate costs £2.00 on Pay as you go, £1.50 on Business and £0.75 on Professional, if you use the full allowance. Paying annually lowers it further, because the annual price is ten months for twelve. One certificate is one credit on every plan.
Is there a fee to get a course accredited?
No. There is no submission fee, no assessment fee and no per-course charge to accredit a course with Open CPD. Courses and events are unlimited on every plan, including Pay as you go, so adding a tenth course costs exactly what adding the first one did. You pay only when you issue a certificate to a learner.
Why do most CPD accreditation bodies not publish their prices?
Most traditional CPD bodies price per course and per assessment, so the figure depends on how many courses you submit, how long each one is and how often it is reviewed. That is why the answer usually arrives as a quote rather than a price list. Open CPD prices the certificate rather than the course, which is what makes an instant, exact figure possible.
How does the calculator decide which package to recommend?
The calculator asks how many CPD certificates you issued in the last three months and how many you expect to issue in the next three, then matches that pair to a package. It is a simple recommendation rule rather than a quote engine, and the price attached to it is the real published price of that package, not an estimate. Nothing you enter changes the price.
Do I have to give my email address to see the price?
No. The price appears on screen as soon as you move the two sliders, with nothing to fill in and no account to create. We ask for an email afterwards only if you want the quote in writing to forward to whoever approves the spend, and you can skip that and still keep the answer.
Can I try Open CPD before paying?
Yes. There is a 7-day free trial that gives you the full Business plan, including its 30 certificates a month, so you can issue a real certificate before deciding. It converts to £45 a month unless you cancel before day seven.
What happens if I issue more certificates than my plan allows?
You can buy additional credits at any time without changing plan, and you can move up or down a plan whenever your volume changes. Nothing stops mid-month and no certificate is withheld. If your volume is consistently beyond the Professional allowance, an Enterprise arrangement is priced around what you actually issue.
