How does Open CPD pricing work?
The short answer
One credit is one certificate. Pay As You Go gives you 25 credits for £50, for as many courses as you like, and you can add more credits whenever you need them. It renews once a year on a fixed date, and any unused credits reset to zero on that date.
Credits and courses
One credit issues one certificate, and its digital badge comes with it. A pack covers any number of courses or events, in any order. There is no separate fee per course and no approval queue.
Prices include VAT. The headline price is in pounds, and dollars, euros and South African rand are set per currency, so you never need to convert. Your own currency is shown at checkout.
Topping up
You can buy more credits at any time during the year. A Pay As You Go top-up costs the same as the original pack, £50 for 25 credits. Buying credits does not change your renewal date.
What happens at renewal
Pay As You Go is built around one fixed date each year: your renewal date. You will get several reminders ahead of it.
- Renewing once a year keeps your account active and keeps you listed as a valid training provider.
- Unused credits reset to zero on your renewal date, including top-ups bought during the year. It is worth using what you have rather than banking it.
- If you do not renew, your account is no longer active and you are no longer shown as a valid training provider.
If you would rather not have a fixed date
The monthly plans have no fixed renewal date. Credits are valid for 12 months from your most recent payment, so the date moves forward each time you pay, and renewal is automatic.
- Business: 30 certificates a month for £45 a month, or £450 a year.
- Professional: 120 certificates a month for £90 a month, or £900 a year, with a custom certificate template included.
A custom certificate template
Your own design on the certificate costs £250 on Pay As You Go and £125 on Business, and is included on Professional.
A worked example
A trainer runs two events a year with about 25 attendees at each. That is 50 certificates. The first pack of 25 credits is £50, and one top-up of 25 credits is another £50, so the year costs £100, or £2 a certificate, and every credit is used before the renewal date.
Not sure how many certificates you will issue? The calculator works it out from your numbers.
